Advertisers / Merchants
The advertiser, known also as a merchant, is a website or a company that sells online products or services. Advertisers team up with affiliates to promote their products and services more easily. Affiliates post ads, text links or other tools on their website or include these in e-mail campaigns and in search listings in exchange for commissions for leads and sales.

Affiliates
An affiliate promotes products and services from a merchant in exchange for commissions from sales or from leads. An affiliate publishes on his website, in e-mail campaigns and in search lists promotional tools like ads, text links and other tools provided by the merchant. The merchant pays a commission to the affiliate when a visitor completes a specific action such as filling in a form or subscribing to a specific service (both lead examples) or such as buying a product.

Developers make Apps that create new advertising units and utilities that extend the functionality of 2Performant. They are paid when ad units create results for affiliates, and when utilities are actively being used by merchants and affiliates.
